Course Description

This course provides the fundamental skills managers and supervisors within the Cargo industry need. Using real life case studies and role playing exercises the students will be taught practical skills including how to analyze different types of threat and react to them appropriately and effectively and the importance of implementing security procedures to protect the safety of their organisation and clients. By the end of the course students will have the required knowledge and expertise to become successful managers and decision makers within the Air Cargo industry.

Course Objectives

• Procedures to follow in case of Suspicious Circumstances and Threat Warnings
• Procedures to follow for drivers of Vehicles with Cargo content
• Understand how controlled areas should be patrolled
• Gain experience of Firearms and Explosives and their methods of concealment
• Gain X-Ray examination and hand search skills
• Understand the role of Security Supervisor and of the Security Manager
• Determine the factors of importance when working with Cargo Content
• Write a procedures plan to follow for those working in Cargo Secure Area
• Evaluate the potential of increasing Security in Cargo Area, by Researching, information, interpretation, critical analysis and evaluation skills
• Demonstrate the ability to act as a Security Supervisor and the ability to implement the recommended course of action
• Develop a range of operational and management skills that can be applied to a Cargo zone helping an organisation to become more secure

Course Structure

The course is made up of Classroom, E-Learning & Assessment stages. Students aiming to gain credits from Middlesex University must complete all stages.

Classroom Stage
The classroom stage involves 3 days of intensive training from the SSTC’s team of expert security tutors. The tutors will impart their knowledge and skills using their own experience in the security industry as well as through the use of advanced security technology made available to them through Renful Premier Technologies.

E-LearningStage
The E-Learning stage of the course involves 12 weeks of online self-learning. The student is provided a referral bibliography and the use of a range of E-learning technologies made available by Renful Premier Technologies from which they will gain the knowledge and skills required to pass the assessments.

Duration: 12 weeks from end of classroom stage end.

Assessment Stage
Assessments will be carried out both during the classroom and e-learning stages of the course.

• Practical Inspection of Cargo under X-ray Test
• Practical Assessment on Operating an X-ray Machine Written Assignment
