DfT Air Cargo Security Training - LEVEL G Course (formerly Level 3)
A Regulated Agent, Aircraft Operator, or Known Consignor operating its business in the UK has to comply with the National Aviation Security Program (NASP) and ensure that their staff are aware of their responsibilities when it comes to aviation security. They must also ensure that their own staff, and staff from other appropriate agencies operating on their behalf, are trained to the required standards.
The Department for Transport (DfT) directs you to look at each job and assess the level of knowledge each staff member needs to apply to their job to achieve effective security. There are seven levels (Levels A - G). Level G courses (formerly Level 3) are required for Managers who are in charge of security operations, and by individuals who need to gain a full overview of the air cargo security regime, prior to applying to the DfT to become trainers.
The course will cover modules 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 (formerly 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11 and 12) as defined in the United Kingdom Department for Transport (DfT) National Aviation Security Program. The course will also cover the basics of module 7 (formerly module 8), which will provide an insight into how X-ray screening equipment is used in the industry, and will also cover the health and safety guidelines for using such equipment. On completion of the course, successful attendees will receive a DfT approved Level G certificate.
Who should attend this Course?
- Cargo Airlines, Freight Forwarders, Courier companies and packing companies who are or wish to become Regulated Agents must nominate a Security Manager who holds a valid Level G certificate. The Security Manager is responsible for writing and maintaining the company security policy, ensuring compliance with local procedures and is the first point of contact for the DfT and must attend a Level G course to obtain certification
- Managers and interested parties from other organisations and countries who wish to obtain an overview of cargo security requirements and the implementation of security procedures within the cargo industry
- Current holders of Cargo Level 3 or G Certificates who need to renew their certification (It is now a mandatory requirement of the DfT that Cargo Level 3 or G accreditation is renewed every 2 years)
- The Level G course is also required by individuals wishing to gain a full overview of the air cargo security regime if they wish to apply to the DfT to become trainers or accredited validators
